This weekend, my friend Adriona drove in from Dallas on a quick trip to Austin. I had set up for us Saturday night to go to the 80s Singalong at Alamo Drafthouse. My hubby also mentioned that it was the Lone Star Round Up and that the classic cars and hot rods would be making their way into town and down Burnet Road. So we changed our plans to grab a burger at Top Notch (as seen in the movie “Dazed and Confused’) and to check out the vintage cars, then us gals would make our way over to the singalong afterwards.
It dawned on my that we were jumping back to the 1950s with the classic car show and retro burger joint and then by singing our hearts out to 80s videos at the movie theater!
And to top it all off, the next day we ventured down to South Congress aka SoCo for brunch. I forgot that there was a race going on and some of the cars in town from the Round Up were still cruising the streets. It made for great ambiance as we walked around and shopped. We even bumped into these ladies as “Dame Edna“. Another blast from the past!
Well, that was my crazy time-travelin’ weekend for ya. Back to 2013!
